at his studio in Cúil Aodha.
With this collection of beautiful songs, Ger returns to the bare roots of his songwriting craft.
Using just his unique guitar style and very own voice Ger presents us with 12 gorgeous songs recorded live in the studio. Though reminiscent of his first album Word and Rhyme (1998), this album illustrates his development as a fine singer, songwriter and guitarist.
On October 22nd last Ger along with drummer Martin Leahy appeared on RTE RADIO 1's arts programme, 'ARENA', presented by Seán Rocks. You can lsiten to the interview and the songs by clicking on this link.

A SHORT FILM ABOUT THE PROJECT MADE BY ROBB BRADSTOCK OF SIXDEGREE PRODUCTIONS WILL SHORTLY BE SCREENED AT SAMHLAíOCHT, THE ANNUAL KERRY FILM FESTIVAL, TAKING PLACE BETWEEN 31ST OCT. AND 8TH NOV. AND ALSO THIS COMING MONDAY 2ND NOV. IN THE KINO CINEMA, CORK AS PART OF THE CORK FILM FESTIVAL.
This Autumn also sees the wrapping up of a project Ger has been involved with in Gaeltacht Mhúscraí entitled "Ó Béal Guth Bhéal" since last February.
Ger says "I've been working alongside the older members of the community here in Múscraí, gathering stories which have become the hearts and bones of new songs. I have a good few written, mostly 'as gaeilge'.
I've had a great time with the work and we hope to bring out a recording of some of the songs I've written early next spring
The entire project was made possible through the help of 'EALAÍONA NA GAELTACHTA' and of course the brilliant people -Bríd Crannitch and Síle ní Chróinín- at An t-Ionad Cultúrtha i mBaile Mhúirne.
With their help and assistance I have visited and had many conversations and 'craic' with the older people of the area and hopefully illustrated some of their thoughts, ideas and stories in new songs."

Scéim Ealaíontóir sa Phobal 2009
Ta an cumadóir agus amhránaí Ger Wolfe i lár oibre ar thogra cumadóireachta amhrántaí nua le seanóirí ó cheantar Mhúscraí ó Ionaid lae Cois Cille, Cuan Barra, an grúpa tacaíos ón Ionad Cultúrtha agus an grúpa a thagann go dtí scoraíocht an Déardaoin san Ionad áise i Réidh na ndoirí uair sa mhí.
Má dúirt Ger Wolfe féin le déanaí -"Is cumadóir/amhránaí mise agus tuigiman neart atá sna hamhráintí thraidisiúinta agus sna hamhráintí nuachumtha chomh maith. Im' thuairim, níl aon teorainn leis an méid slite gur féidir linn ár smaointe a chur in iúl.
Cathaimid an ealaína choimeád beo ach ag an am céanna, cathaimid na seanrudaí a chothú agus a chéilliúradh. Mar sin, ba mhaith liom iarracht a dhéanamh, le hhuirlisí mo cheirde féin agus lem 'ealaín féin, scéalta na ndaoine a chur i mbéal an phobail arís i bhfoirm amhrán nuachumtha."
Bhí ar Ger tréimhse ama le seanóirí-iad siúd a fhreastalaíonn ar na hIonad lae, ach go háirithe-ag éisteacht lena gcuid cainte agus ag bailiú a gcuid scéalta. As an idirmhalartú seo, bhí neart abhair cumadóireachta aige chun cruth nuálach a chur ar na scéalta seo i bhfoirm ceoil agus amhránaíocht chomhaimseartha.Ag deireadh na tréimhse seo, bhí cur i láthair poiblí san Ionad Cultúrtha ar an 22 ú lá Bealtaine ag céiliúradh na tréimhse cónaithí seo agus an idirmhalartaithe idir Ger Wolfe agus an grúpa pobail áirithe seo.Ar an oíche bhí ceolteórí áitiúl don céad scuth in éineacht le Ger - Richard Lucey ar an bosca ceoil agus Conal O'Grada lena bhfeadóg mór.
Cé go bhfuil an scéim seo críochnaithe go hoifigiúl leanfaidh Ger ar aghaidh leis an sar obair seo.

The weekly poem
Below is a poem of Ger's which might interest you. We hope to bring you more of Ger's poetry throughout the year. You can search the shoebox for poems past.
He opens the eyes of the blind.
For William Harrington,artist
He opens the eyes of the blind,
(We dead who walk the civilised street),
With a kiss of the sun
On the dark-doored prison of flagstone pre-occupation.
“Look up” he whispers.
If we lose our lost sight and enter in
The open door of Truth with courage
We will see,
Plint and jamb
Sill and shade
Depth and bone
Curve of eye
Light and half-light
Nimbus-shone shadow of all being
The pulse in stone
The silent line that sings, “Here I am”
The dance un-done
The child who skips unbridled in “I can”.
So, He said to the sculptor
You have shown them the guts and bones of my work
And without ye I have no body.
So, as one, are we the flesh and his the ever-pounding taken-for-granted pulse?
